Many Muslims fail to explain the real reasons why we have to fast. I was also guilty as charged in this case.

Fasting helps to cleanse and detoxify your body. We are also not allowed to smoke, eat, drink and have intimacy when we are fasting but are only allowed to do so during break fast time around 7.10pm (in my country – SG).

Why do Muslims fast? A lot of people ask me this question. The main reason basically is for us to experience what it’s like for the people who are poor when they have no food to eat. Thus, also encouraging us to give charity to the less fortunate at the same time.

Happy fasting!

PS: Fasting starts tomorrow.
